A POSITIVE DIFFERENCE?

YOU CAN!

All it just takes is…
DOING SOME ACTIVITY
FOR COMMUNITY BETTERMENT
1 HOUR A WEEK
or
DOING ONE GOOD THING EVERY DAY!
PLEASE START…TODAY!
AND TELL A FRIEND AND SPREAD THE WORD!!!
IMAGINE IF EVERY PERSON IN THE U.S. DID JUST
1 HOUR A WEEK OF SOME SORT OF
COMMUNITY BETTERMENT ACTIVITY!
THAT WOULD THEN ADD UP TO MANY, MANY MORE
HOURS OF COMMUNITY BETTERMENT ACTIVITIES
DONE IN OUR COMMUNITIES!
TOGETHER DOING JUST 1 HOUR A WEEK...
WE CAN MAKE A POSITIVE DIFFERENCE
IN OUR COMMUNITIES!!
Studies conducted by United Health Group indicate that volunteering improves one’s physical health, emotional well-being, sense of purpose, connection to the community, and contributes to their overall quality of life. in the same study social scientists have discovered that volunteers report they feel better – physically, mentally, and emotionally. Below are a few highlights:
  • Some 76 percent of people who volunteered in the last 12 months say their altruistic actions made them feel better. They were more likely than their non-volunteering counterparts to report feeling good about their health.
  • Volunteers report having a greater sense of purpose and meaning from their philanthropic activities. An estimated 95 percent of those surveyed say they are helping to make their community a better place while 96 percent report volunteering enriches their sense of purpose in life.
  • Volunteers feel less stressed out than their non-volunteering peers.
  • Assisting others shifts the focus away from feeling overwhelmed by personal difficulties to the more enlightened state that comes from helping others. Stress is considered a contributing factor in ill health, so any reduction in stress levels is a positive step.

PERFORMER, AUTHOR & AWARD-WINNING JOURNALIST PROMOTES UNIQUE CAMPAIGN TO ENCOURAGE COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERISM

Las Vegas resident, Brian Gardner, has been a performer for over 50 years. He is an award-winning artist, journalist, and author of three books. He is promoting a unique campaign he came up with to encourage citizens to get involved with community betterment activities.

The effort is two-fold and is called: The One-hour a Week Campaign for Community Betterment and the Just Do one Good Thing Everyday Campaign. “I know how busy people are and the disruption Covid has caused in our lives and our communities. Still, I believe people can do 1-hour a week of some sort of community betterment activity and if they are limited in some way – they can still do “one good thing every day”, stated Gardner.

“This campaign bypasses any need for government funding or approval. It places the health of our communities directly into the hands of the citizens of this country where such responsibility belongs. And everyone can participate!”, said Gardner.

“I feel that people will embrace a community betterment campaign such as this, because everyone has at least 1-hour a week they can devote to some sort of community betterment activity and for those that are more limited – one good thing done each day will make a positive difference in our communities! We have the power to better our communities through our own actions!”, stated Gardner.

PERFORMER, AUTHOR & AWARD-WINNING JOURNALIST PROMOTES UNIQUE CAMPAIGN TO ENCOURAGE COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERISM

Las Vegas, NV – Las Vegas resident, Brian Gardner, is an award-winning journalist and author and he has been a performer for over 50 years. Over the years, he has also done over 300 performances of his one-man comedy variety show in retirement homes. He is promoting a unique campaign he came up with to encourage community betterment volunteerism, that he feels citizens need more than ever, at this time.

“People have been out of work, worrying about their family members and friends because of COVID concerns and also limited on even going out of their homes to a great deal. My campaign for community volunteerism couldn’t come at a better time for thousands of citizens. Studies have shown and all of us know it to some degree, that if one gets busy, especially helping others, it reduces one’s own stress and often even lessens the impact of one’s own problems.” said Gardner.

COMMUNITY BETTERMENT CAMPAIGN

His campaign has two elements. They are called: The One-hour a Week Campaign for Community Betterment and the Just Do one Good Thing Everyday Campaign. Gardner feels that most people can do one hour a week of some sort of community betterment activity. If they are limited in some way – they can still do one good thing every day.

“My campaign bypasses any need for government funding or approval. It places the health of our communities and our citizens directly into the hands of those doing volunteerism where such responsibility belongs”, said Gardner.

Gardner is keeping this campaign simple. He plans to mail or e-mail the release and an information sheet to every elected official, every major corporation and active community groups all over the country. Gardner’s campaign has also been partially underwritten by Royal Neighbors of America, one of the oldest, women-life insurance companies in the U.S. The support comes from their yearly Difference Maker Fund that offers Royal Neighbors members seed money to support a community project that aligns with the life insurer’s mission, of supporting customers who are making a positive difference in their communities.

“I feel that people will embrace a community betterment campaign such as this, because everyone has at least 1-hour a week they can devote to some sort of community betterment activity and it comes at a time when getting involved in helping others is so important, especially with what we all have dealt with over the past few years. We have the power to better our communities through our own actions. My campaign encourages this. And everyone can participate!”, stated Gardner.
